Royal Jelly is a creamy secretion from the
gland located in the heads of young adult female nurse bee.
Bees produce Royal Jelly to feed their young larvae for the
first three days of their lives, however only the Queen Bee
receives a diet of pure Royal Jelly for her entire life.
Queen Bees are usually 2 – 3 times larger than other
bees, live between 6 – 8 years and are capable of laying
twice her body weight of eggs everyday while the live span
of the worker bee is only between 2 – 3 months. Thus
we can imagine the power of Royal Jelly.
Royal Jelly is mainly produced by adding frames of specially
designed plastic cups containing larvae to the beehive and
harvesting the Royal Jelly fed to these cells after three
days. The process is not harmful to the larvae or the bee
colony as a whole.
It is a difficult task to collect Royal Jelly because generally,
only 2 to 3 grams of Royal Jelly can be collected from a single
beehive during each harvest. To fill a 100g bottle of Royal
Jelly will take immerse effort, making royal jelly even more
precious.
Royal Jelly contains rich protein, 10 – hydroxyl deconoic
acid (10 HDA), natural hormones, and vitamins A, B complex,
C, D, and E. It also contains many minerals, calcium, iron,
as well as the eight amino acids essential to the human life.
Consuming Royal Jelly helps to keep skin smooth, toned and
elastic, stimulates the immune system to fight viral and bacterial
infection, regulates and balances hormones, has a bactericidal
action on bacteria like staph, stimulates growth, lowers blood
lipids and cholesterol, helps to regenerate bone growth, builds
tissue and muscles, supports wound healing, increases vigor
and physical strength, provides extra physiological support
during pregnancy and menopause, helps to alleviate the pain
of arthritis, stimulates better memory and mental function,
has an anti-depressive anti-anxiety effect, can help to regulate
weight, rejuvenates the aged, sick or weak.
Royal Jelly is also effective for preventing, arteriosclerosis,
rheumatoid Arthritis, inveteracy Hepatitis, tuberculosis,
nephragra, hypertension, diabetes, gastritis, tumor and endocrine
Disorder. *

The goodness of Royal Jelly is widely accepted in Europe.
It is held that in the same esteem as Chinese would for “Lingzhi”,
“Ginseng” etc, and Malays would for “Jamu”.
However, it is not as widely consumed in Asia perhaps because
there is less publicity or knowledge of its advantages. It
could also be due to its somewhat strange taste and smell.
Then again, with so much good to be derived from consuming
Royal Jelly, and the fact that taste and smell is a matter
of getting used to, shouldn’t this reason be thrown
to the wind? As the Chinese saying goes “Good Medicine
Taste Bitter”!
